Kendrick Recruitment is looking for a Sous Chef for a prestigious Game Lodge in Bela Bela, Limpopo. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, including staff management, menu preparation, food quality control, and ordering and stocking. The role requires adaptability, as it is located in a remote area within a Private Game Lodge.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in managing kitchen activities and supervise kitchen staff.
  • Aid in menu preparation and ensure food quality and presentation meet high standards.
  • Purchase, check, and pack goods in relevant storage facilities.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for food orders.
  • Create new dishes and menus to enhance the dining experience.
  • Draft staff rosters and registers, and manage multiple functions simultaneously.
  • Monitor and maintain consistent food standards and hygiene practices.
  • Implement health and safety procedures in the kitchen.
  • Control food costs, perform stock counts, and manage stock levels efficiently.
  • Provide training and leadership to kitchen staff.
  • Build relationships with staff, guests, the community, and industry partners.
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences, meeting their specific requirements.
  • Uphold company practices and meet deadlines with diligence and self-motivation.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
  • Matric qualification is essential, and a culinary qualification is preferred.
  • Well-spoken and presentable with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Guest-centric approach with a focus on creating memorable experiences.
  • Innovative and creative mindset to enhance hospitality at the lodge.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet guests’ needs.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to high standards.
  • Willingness to share knowledge and inspire others.
  • Proficiency in cost management and stock control.
  • Strong leadership abilities and team management skills.
