Description

As a Cashier, your role is pivotal in ensuring the accurate handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and associated documentation to guarantee customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for ensuring that no goods or stock pass through the Point of Sale (POS) without proper payment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (Grade 12) or a minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in English and the dominant language spoken in the geographical area where the position is located.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
  • Strong administration skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.

Job Description

Cash Handling

  • Ensure the accurate balancing of all cash, including floats and petty cash (No shorts or overs).
  • Correctly identify and capture goods on the Point-of-Sale Terminal.
  • Accurately record the payment type received from customers on the Point-of-Sale Terminal.
  • Always maintain sufficient change for transactions.
  • Perform accurate Pickups according to established parameters.
  • Conduct precise Cash ups at the end of your shift.
  • Ensure all daily takings are securely deposited into the Drop Safe/vault.
  • Accurately process all transactions related to other stores’ money, deliveries, and quotes.

Administration

  • Sign, compile, and file all relevant documentation related to cashiering functions.

Ready for Business

  • Adhere to “Ready for Business” and “Beyond my Control” protocols as per the CB Way.

Customer Service

  • Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers during the check-in and check-out process.
  • Direct customers to relevant personnel who can assist them.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s dress code.

Safety (OHSA) Requirements

  • Comply with safety (OHSA) regulations within your area of responsibility, ensuring the safety of both customers and staff.
  • Report any discrepancies to the Store Manager.

Security Awareness

  • Ensure strict system password control at the till point.
  • Safeguard cash and transport it to the cash office in accordance with Cashbuild Way requirements.
